RESOURCES |
ISMAR has several instruments and hardware resources:
- Oceanographic instrumentation: various kind of CTD (SBE 911 plus, SBE 19, Speedy
Seven of Hidronaut) and of water sampler (Rosette and Carousel), salinometers, Seacat
(temperature and conductivity recorders), tide gauges and currentmeters.
- Chemical Laboratory for nutrients
analysis, Oxygen and Chlorophyll.
- Underwater research equipment: UW TV camera, UW photo equipment, UW engine for fast
movements.
- Biological laboratory with microscopes, dissecting microscopes, reversed microscope.
Video image analysis system. Low speed saw and lapidary wheel for
the preparation of thin sections of otoliths and shells. Freezer at -20 and at -80 (240 l).
- Net workshop with breaking load testing machine, warp load measurement instrument for commercial
fishing vessels, electronic instruments for gear behaviour measurement.
Portable SIMRAD echosounder for fish biomass assessment.
- "ARIA" system for noise and vibration
measurements on board of
fishing vessels.
- Electronic equipment for the acoustic evaluation of pelagic fish and krill biomass.
Computer system for the elaboration and mapping of acoustic data. Underwater sound
recording devices and analysis (for dolphin studies).
- ISMAR has some Workstations and several PCs linked with a Windows NT server. The
Institute is connected to INTERNET by the CNR net.
